A Frozen Wonderland: Ice Castles of New Hampshire

People often think you have to travel halfway across the world to see wonderful things, but I always try to preach that this isn't true. There truly is more to see in your backyard than you think.

Welcome to the Ice Castles of New Hampshire.

This past January, while the snow and winter-vibes were still high, I visited Lincoln, New Hampshire, to see these man-made ice castles.

The moment I stepped foot inside, I was rushed with feelings of nostalgia. Magical music from the Frozen soundtrack was playing softly in the distance and I couldn't help but feel like the ice princess my three-year-old self always wanted to be.

It was fascinating to see these structures and even watching the crew continue to shape and build more sections to it.

And with a beautiful sunset in the background against the mountain tops, nothing could make the moment any more perfect...Except, you know, maybe a bit more warmth.

It really was pretty darn cold, though. I mean, Go figure, right?

You're probably thinking, "Jess, it's ice. Obviously it's going to be super cold there." Well, of course! But, I was clearly blatantly unaware of how frigidly cold huge blocks of ice are, especially while walking around after the sun goes down.

To say the least, my toes were not prepared.

What really intrigued me was the fact that this winter attraction is so popular that time slots start filling up the moment ticket sales are released online. It seemed like people from all over New England came to see the ice in all its man-made shaped glory.

But, overall, as beautiful as the Ice Castles were during the day, they were certainly even more beautiful at night. Albeit the fact that I could barely feel my fingers and toes by the end of the night, I'm still very thankful to have the chance to visit.
